I bought both!!

I use the regular bag for all my extra stuff and my GoPro goodies. It works perfect for that. The cooler works great if your drinks are already very cold. I tried to put an ice pack in with my energy drinks and it was warm after the first round.
I tried it again with near frozen water and it worked great.
Just depends on your choice of beverage. It may also depend on what your choice of “ice” is. I did fit 6 cans of adult beverage in it and it worked quite well for that as well.
Money well spent.
